The new and improved Polygon Path i8 is your ultimate city / commuter bike. It is fast, stylish and a functional partner-in-crime for all your urban adventures.
The standout feature is the Shimano Nexus 8 internal rear hub. “Sealed for life” unit together with the carbon belt drive means that the drivetrain is almost maintenance free. This hub also has additional advantages including an impressive 302% gear range which is about the same range as a typical mountain bike, which is a tremendous help for hillier roads. With the gears being internal, you will also avoid having broken or damaged derailleurs stopping your ride prematurely. The sophisticated unit also allows you to change gears without pedaling – very useful if you have forgotten to downshift whilst coming to a set of lights.
Power transfer is managed by Gates Carbon Belt which exceeds the service life of a chain multiple times and is the same that is used in a car’s timing belt. You know when your chain is freshly cleaned and lubed and running perfectly silent? That’s a belt most the time. You can expect a regularly cleaned belt drivetrain to last upwards of 30,000km. You don’t need to lubricate or degrease your belt. The most maintenance you’ll have to do is get a toothbrush and give the belt a scrub from time to time. No rust. No grease. No fooling.
Polygon has also refined the belt tension adjustment feature on the i8; the eccentric bottom bracket has been replaced by a simpler solution: a fixed threaded bottom bracket with tension adjustment handled at the rear dropouts. The dropouts slide to tension the belt while incorporating flat mount disc brakes and a direct mount rear kickstand to support the bike where the weight of the rear hub or rear cargo is centred.
Path i8 now comes fully equipped with premium spec Shimano MT201 hydraulic disc brakes complemented with an Entity Sport cockpit – they have been carefully chosen to match the high-level components featured on the bike.
To finish off the Path i8, Polygon’s newest premium painting technology Eternal Coat Tech provides excellent protection to chipping, scratching, fading and wearing and together with a trustworthy set of Entity Double-Wall rims, this bike will endure the everyday commuting punishment you throw at them.
